[ Abstract ]

With the privatization of the Brazilian railway network, between 1992 and 1998, a series of public and social actions highlighted the preservation of railway assets. The railway company's liquidation legislation (2007) also required the identification and custody of historic railway assets. In this context, we developed several researches on the identification and management of railway assets in the state of São Paulo. The research project (from 2019 to 2021) under our coordination aims to try new registration methodologies (of material or documentary culture), to re-evaluate preservation guidelines and different activation instruments (functional, potential and sensory) on the industrial heritage, starting from multi-interdisciplinary theoretical-methodological perspectives. Thus, we start from various disciplinary understandings to face different purposes in relation to goods and railway sites: identification, correlation, application of new technologies, protection instruments and public policies. This article intends to detail the theoretical and methodological criteria adopted, as well as the results obtained so far.
