[ Abstract ]
The study addresses the elements involved in the generation of
hostility outbursts starring passengers of the Buenos Aires
metropolitan railroad during the first decade of the 21st
century. In particular, the configuration of representations and
feelings of a negative nature that occur in the framework of
travel experiences, in conjunction with the role that this mode
of transport occupies in the daily life of users, are
outstanding aspects on the way to understanding the facts. To
carry out the study, three case of the most emblematic
collective violence episodes of the period were analyzed. The
investigation was based on service quality statistics, surveys
and interviews with passengers, statistics provided by public
bodies, interviews with key informants and specific studies on
the subject.
