[ Abstract ]

Nowadays millions of people pay attention to the weather forecast. Near to the end of winter, the interest of the population increases to know, through any media, if the heat and rain season will be prolonged in order to take precautions in relation to droughts or floods. Both situations are also concern of municipal, state and federal actors and even international bodies. Studies on water are the interest of academics, whose from different approaches contribute with solutions to the problems derived by the consumption of this liquid. There are a great number of studies of water which focus on post colonial time, the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth century. However there is a lack of studies addressing this problem during the first half of the nineteenth century. Hence, this paper analyses the water supply in the city of Cordoba, Veracruz. The argument begins with a description of the city in order to know the research context.
